The painted top hat is a full-sized (8.5” h x 12” long x 11” wide), real, high quality, men’s extra large, all wool, felt top hat with satin ribbon and satin lining. This one-of-a-kind art piece has been painted in oils on the gessoed felt and satin ribbon surfaces. Illustrated paper elements, which have been gessoed to the hat’s primed surfaces, and are also painted in oils. The collage format elements include our U.S. Capitol Building, two of our 16th president’s homes, the statue at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., and Abraham’s stages of personal development depicted in the form of several portraits, including a standing portrait. The profile painting on gessoed felt, on the top of the hat, was created in the artist’s, “Ribbons of Color” style. The art has been signed, dated, and titled on the underside of the brim.
