FOREVER IN BLUE JEANS at R & R RANCH GALENA, IL: Create Custom Clothing With Paint & Bleach, Taught by Master Artist, Cat Clausen
This class is identical to REBORN JEANS, except the location has changed to R & R Ranch in Galena, for groups of five to eight and those who wish to meet and greet ranch and farm animals at the one-of-a-kind location.
When you feel that your cherished jean garments have sadly seen better days or could simply use a creative facelift; embrace the opportunity to create unique personal statements about yourself using bleach and paint. Join us on this transformative journey that not only revitalizes your denim but also helps keep clothing out of our nation’s overflowing landfills. You will be guided throughout the entire process by master artist, Cat Clausen, who brings with her over 50 years of extensive experience in the art world. Cat’s remarkable pieces have graced the prestigious walls of our White House, numerous municipal buildings, and have found a home in the private collections of well-known collectors, including Yoko Ono and Kevin Walgreen, who proudly owns seven of Cat’s celebrated pieces.
Begin your creative adventure by taking pencil and paper to create an illustration or design that beautifully speaks interesting statements about who you are as an individual. You may also choose to use a pattern from Cat’s extensive and inspiring collection as your starting point. Following that, you will skillfully use a fabric drawing tool to transfer your pencil artwork onto your denim “canvas.” You will learn the fascinating technique of bleach painting, which allows your designs to come to life. Afterward, you may choose to add vibrant acrylic paints to elevate your creation further. Rest assured, your garments will remain machine washable and dryable on any setting once completed. To conclude this enriching one-day experience, a lively fashion show will showcase your artistic endeavors.
The materials provided for this creative journey include fabric drawing tools, bleach, paints, and brushes. Students must bring their own garments which they wish to paint on. A limited number of garments will be available for sale.
