Transform what seems like trash into a cherished and trend-setting POCKET PURSE from old blue jeans headed for the landfill. Join national-level artist Cat Clausen, whose work has been displayed in the White House and boasts over 50 years of experience, for this creative journey.

Imagine having a private or group art lesson in her very own charming Lake Front Studio, offering breathtaking water views that enhance the creative environment, just a short ride away to the historic and highly popular tourist destination, Galena, Illinois.

Design and paint your very own individual artistic statement purse using bleach and acrylics on your jeans' pockets or use a pre-designed pattern from Cat’s extensive collection. Cut and hand-sew your unique pocket purse, and create the belt from pre-woven hemp (a different belt option is shown in photo). A denim shoulder strap may be created and patches may also be painted and added to your purse as final touches if time allows. Magnets are provided to be sewn in and used as your bags’ closure.

Some hand sewing experience is helpful. Free materials include: Patterns, Fabric Drawing Tools, Thread, Needles, Cotton Hemp Cord, Pre-Made Hemp Belts, Bleach, Acrylic Paints and Brushes, and Magnets for purse closure. Students must bring one pair of faded men's jeans (size 36" waist or larger).
